WHO’S IN CHARGE…IMCOMING SALVO…30 JUNE A.D. 2023

BLESSINGS TO THE FLOCK KNOWING WHO IS IN CHARGE,

I found this online:
The author of Human, Michael S. Gazzaniga has been called the “father of cognitive neuroscience.” In his remarkable book, Who’s in Charge?, he makes a powerful and provocative argument that counters the common wisdom that our lives are wholly determined by physical processes we cannot control. His well-reasoned case against the idea that we live in a “determined” world is fascinating and liberating, solidifying his place among the likes of Oliver Sacks, Antonio Damasio, V.S. Ramachandran, and other bestselling science authors exploring the mysteries of the human brain.

As plant physiologists have noted, animal cells are not unique in responding to environmental stimuli, not unique in inducing whole-organism responses, and not even unique in generating action potentials. Nevertheless, the hypersensitivity of neurons in the animal nervous system is truly unusual in terms of its rapid recruitment of other similarly excitable cells in driving behavior that can restore biological equanimity. We therefore suggest that the higher-level awareness of animal organisms is, in essence, a consequence of the coordinated “irritability” of billions of excitable cells.  See, Mind Guest Blog Exclusive: Oliver Sacks, Antonio Damasio and Others Debate Christal Koch on the Nature of Consciousness, Scientific American

Where does the desire to learn, change course, and yes even love come from?
The deepest longings of the human heart can and must be changed if mankind is to become all that God designed us to be. Our deviant longings are illegitimate masters; even where the object of desire is a good thing, the status of the desire usurps God. Our cravings should be recognized in order that we may more richly know God as the Savior, Lover, and Converter of the human soul. God would have us long for him more than we long for his gifts.   See:
