My Aunt Joyce was always known as one of the best cooks of the family, and also as a kind woman that always had words of encouragement and a wonderful little chuckle that always made me feel at home when we would visit Joyce & George on their Fonda farm.

Joyce and my mom came to visit us in the 1990s, and Joyce was talking about all the beauty in the mountain valley.  One morning, I found her out front where the mountain sloped steep, and she was standing there taking pictures of Mtn. Rosalee, and saying, “Oh how beautiful it is.”

My focus that day was to make sure Joyce got off the steep slope without getting hurt.  This morning while mowing I was down by the road below where Joyce had stood.  I looked up and saw Mtn. Rosalee's white cap brilliantly glowing in the sun and Lion's Head standing hundreds of feet tall in the valley, and only then did I really see what Joyce saw many decades earlier.
