When I was a boy of about 13 or 14, my parents took me to Douglas Clothiers

on the southwest side of Main street.  I had been in this clothing store a few times over the years, but we frequented the Penny's store on the northwest side of Main Street much more often.  Anyway, on this late fall day my folks were shopping to get me a winter coat.  I was looking at winter jackets when my folks said what about this one?  I looked and there was a fine full length coat with wonderful cloth and lining and around the collar there was a gentleman's conservative fur collar.  I looked at the price tag and it was over $50.00 which was equal to about a day and a half's work for my dad. 

I said, “I can't take this one, it costs too much.”

Dad said, “It's time you had a young man's coat.”

The Marriage of the Lamb
