BLESSINGS TO THOSE KNOWING THERE IS A COST,
Having played high school football for a short time, I can tell you there is
the thrill of moving the ball together against the enemy's goal. For me the time was short, just two years in junior high football at guard, defensive end, and fullback then on to high school football at CHS. Played that sophomore year after heart doctor at Univ. of Iowa okayed.
We were only about three games into the season, with a junior varsity game on a weeknight, where I was running end sweeps on the call of my friend/
quarterback David. The first two sweeps to the left got us more than 10 yards each, and then came the third left sweep in a row and the enemy was waiting for me, with one guy grabbing me high, and one or two others into my right knee headed in a different direction. I tried to stand up after, but went right back down with stars as the right knee gave way.
fFor many years after, the knee would give way and I would find myself lying on the ground thinking o yeah my knee gave out. Sometimes it was like get out the gun and shoot me. I just can't stand this pain and sickness in the stomach.
I give this story in part to say to young athletes, count the cost before you enter the game. For me the cost wasn't worth the game of football.
In this life, Yeshua ( Jesus) also warns us to count the cost before following Him.
INCOMING SALVO…THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE…28 JULY A.D. 2022
Counting it all joy HOLDING ON TO YESHUA IN THE DARKEST TIMES,
